Music for relief

The client

Music for Relief was founded by the band Linkin Park in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Since inception in 2005 Music for Relief has raised over $9 million for survivors of multiple disasters across four continents including Hurricane Katrina, China’s Wenchuan earthquake, a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe, earthquakes in Haiti and Japan in 2010, and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The brief

The process was collaborative and was based on the Agile method used with Activistic to build the micro-donation platform. Regular sprints and continuous deployment of the apps for iOS and Android allowed for very tight feedback loops. The jtribe quality assurance team did look after all aspects of the product quality including function and visual design accuracy. The multi-disciplinary project team consisted of team members from the client and the jtribe UX, development and quality assurance team. As usual, the team worked well together to produce a superior product that makes donating as simple
as possible.

The Music for Relief app for iOS and Android helps raising funds for disaster relief & action against climate change through super simple micro-donations and a channel for engagement with supporters.

Users are able to see exactly how their donations were helping by frequent news and gallery updates.

The Solution

The project utilised the Activistic micro-donation platform which was developed by jtribe as part of a larger project engagement. The Activistic platform was configured to cater for the specific MFR donation flow. A custom user interface was implemented with specifics for iOS and Android. The user interface design and user experience design translates the MFR brand into an app experience that gives supporters all the information about the brand, donations and how the donations make an impact.
